Hey Everyone! My name is Mary, and I am a third year CS major. I am a part of several organizations here on campus, I am on the Exec Board for the Catholic Campus Ministry in addition to being a Senator in SGA. I am also a member of the Women’s Soccer team, so I will probably pester you about coming to the games. This is, however, my first time as a TA, so you might have to be a little patient with me.
My office hours are going to be Mondays from 3:15-4:15 in Stuart 108 or you can email me and we can set up another time. I am also often online and don’t often sleep so feel free to IM me either AIM (imscrcrazy) or Yahoo (mathgeek50@ymail.com) or shoot me an email. See you in lab!!
Hey everybody, I’m Frank and I am a second year computer science major. This is my second semester being a TA and I am really looking forward to it. If I’m not playing with computers I might be wrenching on my little Kawasaki, avoiding traffic downtown, or rollerblading.
Unless you’ve programmed computers before you should be asking a lot of questions. So ask why things are done how they are, it is really important to have a deep understanding of this stuff. A website that might come in handy is http://foldoc.org/ in case you get some computer jargon you don’t know or forget what something means.
Hey guys,
My name is Anton, I’m a 3rd year computer engineering student here at IIT. I enjoy playing (but am not too good at) frisbee, basketball, and Warcraft 3. I am also a huge fan of Ruby, and have used it at work for about a year. Actually, to say I am a huge fan is probably an understatement – Ruby is by far my favorite language to program in. So hopefully as we progress through the semester you too will come to appreciate at least some its features.
Since I don’t think it was mentioned previously, http://rubycentral.com/pickaxe/builtins.html describes the core Ruby API, the resources always available to the Ruby programmer. If you have a question about some method you see in class or lab (for instance the IO.puts method you used in the first lab), this may be a good place to get an answer.
Hello everyone! My name is Evan Larkin, but you can call me “Hey-You.” I’ve been working with ruby professionally since last May and working with it unprofessionally since last May (at least, that’s what my boss says).
I’m a 4th year student here at IIT, I like video games and pretzels (not necessarily in that order).
I try to help students I TA for feel comfortable in lab, and I try to be approachable while in lab.
Lastly, I hope everyone feels lucky to be taking CS 105 in Ruby, it’s a much more natural language than C++ or Java.
